How the Community Helps

Our work is made possible through a coordinated community response that includes hospitals, advocates, law enforcement, counselors, and trained volunteers. Community members who serve as advocates play a vital role in ensuring survivors receive compassionate, trauma-informed care across systems.

Volunteers are carefully trained, supported, and integrated into our response model to ensure ethical, confidential, and survivor-centered advocacy.

Why This Work Matters

Sexual violence is a public-health issue associated with significant physical, mental, and economic harms, especially when survivors lack access to immediate support.

Our Partners

Our work would not be possible without the strong support and collaboration of our dedicated community partners. Together, we are committed to strengthening families, supporting individuals in need, and building a safer, more connected community. We proudly partner with organizations such as 2nd Chance, Inc., which provides critical reentry support and resources to individuals transitioning back into society; the 7th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, whose leadership and commitment to justice help promote accountability and community safety; Family Services of North Alabama (FSNA), which delivers essential counseling, advocacy, and family support services across the region; and the Alabama Coalition Against Rape (ACAR), which works to support survivors, strengthen prevention efforts, and advance advocacy for those impacted by sexual violence. Through these partnerships, we are able to expand our reach, deepen our impact, and better serve the needs of our community.
